Susie was raised in Lincoln Park, Chicago in the 1970’s. Decades ago, Susie White earned a B.A. in Fine Art from Ithaca college. In the years following college, she travelled extensively and ultimately landed in Los Angeles where she toiled away as a scenic artist for film and television, honing her skills in creating textures and surfaces, gaining a working understanding of materials and process to achieve a prescribed effect. Her exposure to the industry also led to her paintings being featured on sets of commercials, television and in movies, her work chosen by production designers and art directors to convey tone and inform the nature of the characters. Susie’s work evolved significantly during her L.A. period, she found a voice in composing panels big and small to create her paintings, a technique she still employs today.
She now lives on an island and works in a snug studio surrounded by ocean, twisted oak trees, mossy old stone walls, and vast salt marshes, all driving her creations, informing her expression. She tries to relay her visceral reaction to natural beauty in her paintings, all of which, ultimately, are landscapes.
